HAWAII

World War II Educational and Interpretive Programs

Join us as we go beyond the textbook and investigate the legacies of war through place-based learning experiences, books, and virtual technology to draw important conclusions on how and why we remember, honor, and understand our past.

We are excited to announce that Southwest Airlines has proudly partnered with the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites to provide students from Hawaii’s outer islands with the opportunity to visit Oahu and engage with the rich history of Pearl Harbor and World War II.

This unique educational program offers students the chance to experience firsthand significant historical sites such as the USS Arizona Memorial, the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum, the Battleship Missouri Memorial, and the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. Through this meaningful partnership, we aim to inspire the next generation by immersing them in the powerful stories and invaluable lessons of the past.

Bring your 4th-12th grade students for an unforgettable educational experience.

Hiroshima Student Exchange

Under the Sister Park Agreement between Pearl Harbor National Memorial and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, the National Park Service and Pacific Historic Parks will lead a program bringing students from Hawai‘i to Hiroshima. This program aims to foster mutual understanding by acknowledging cultural differences, sharing values, and promoting reflections on peace. The goal is to encourage future-oriented exchanges through immersive, in-person learning experiences, including museum tours, participation in a Peace Forum, and testimony from Hibakusha (atomic bomb survivors)

In Their Eyes - Virtual Reality Experience and Outreach

Pearl Harbor National Memorial offers onsite and outreach of our Virtual Reality experiences.  Be on the once famed battleship USS Utah in Air Raid Pearl Harbor, or be in the cockpit of a torpedo bomber in Skies Over Pearl.  Experiences were developed using oral histories of the men and women who lived the events at Pearl Harbor.
