  • Who can be a volunteer?
Volunteers of all ages are welcome — including families, friends, and community groups! Some roles are better suited for specific age groups. For example, Retail and Warehouse support is typically for adults, while Flag Folding events are open to all. Please note: Flag Flying is reserved for active-duty military personnel only. Questions? Email us at volunteers@pacifichistoricparks.org.
  • What do I wear?
For open volunteer events, wear comfortable civilian attire and shoes, as you may be standing for long periods. Regular volunteers will receive a t-shirt and name tag. For Flag Flying events (active-duty military only), Class A Dress Uniform is required. Sunglasses and reef-safe sunscreen are recommended, especially at Pearl Harbor National Memorial and Diamond Head State Monument.
  • What do I need to bring?
We encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle — refill stations are available. Please note: Bags are not allowed in the park. For details, visit the National Park Service bag policy page.
  • Will food be provided?
Meals are provided at Flag Flying and Folding Events. For regular volunteer shifts, you're welcome to bring your own food in a clear, see-through container that complies with NPS bag rules. A snack shop is also available on-site with food and drinks for purchase.
  • Where do I park?
Parking is free for volunteers. After signing up, our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you with parking details. Questions? Email volunteers@pacifichistoricparks.org or call (808) 647-0763.
