About the Event

King Kamehameha I Day, celebrated annually on June 11, is a public holiday in Hawaii honoring Kamehameha the Great, who united the Hawaiian Islands in 1810. Established in 1871, it features traditional lei-draping ceremonies on Kamehameha statues, floral parades, and hula competitions to honor the founder of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi.
