2026 Asan Beach Park Liberation Day Wagon Parade Celebration

HAGĆ TĆA, Guam ā The National Park Service (NPS) invites the public to participate in a
wagon parade at Asan Beach on July 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. in celebration of the 82nd Anniversary of Guamās Liberation.
The event will bring the community together for an afternoon of reflection, remembrance and pride. This yearās theme, Para I Onra, Para I Gloria (āFor Our Honor, For Our Gloryā), honors the resilience, courage and unity of the Chamorro people and all who endured the events of World War II.
The celebration will also feature a photo and illumination display honoring survivors, families, and Guamās wartime history. Wagon Parade Participants of all ages are encouraged to decorate a small wagon using recycled or repurposed materials in the spirit of creativity and sustainability. Guest judges will award first-, second- and third-place prizes in both the Family and Organization categories based on the
following criteria:
ā¢ Creativity and use of recycled materials
ā¢ Connection to the Liberation Day theme
ā¢ Historical, cultural, or natural representation
ā¢ Overall presentation and craftsmanship
Wagons must:
ā¢ Fit within the width of the pathways at Asan Beach.
ā¢ Be hand-pulled. Motorized vehicles, bicycles and powered assistance are not
permitted.

ā¢ Have decorations that are securely attached and safe for outdoor conditions.
The parade will start promptly at 3 p.m. Participants are asked to begin line up at 2:30 p.m.
FamilyāFriendly Activities
Visitors can also enjoy activities for all ages throughout the afternoon, including:
ā¢ B.A.R.K. Ranger swearingāin for dogs and their families. Dogs must always remain on a
leash.
ā¢ Themed crafts for kids
ā¢ Junior Ranger activities and swearingāin
Ranger programs and exhibits highlight the history and significance of War in the Pacific
National Historical Park. Beach BBQ areas remain closed, but visitors are welcome to picnic in the open field with family, friends, and pets. Fires and grills are not permitted in the field, and picnic areas are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors should prepare for warm weather by bringing drinking water, sunscreen, hats and shade, such as an umbrella, to help prevent heat-related illness. Please pack out all trash when leaving the park.
