HONOLULU (Oct. 28, 2026) – Pacific Historic Parks announces Bernie Caalim as its Director of Marketing Communications. Since joining the nonprofit earlier this year, Caalim has overseen brand positioning, public relations, digital communications and marketing partnerships supporting the organization's historic sites across the Pacific.
In her role, Caalim leads integrated marketing and communications strategies, including media relations, website and social media content, digital storytelling, advertising and creative campaigns. She also develops partnerships to expand Pacific Historic Parks' reach and support its mission of preserving and sharing the history of World War II in the Pacific.
Caalim brings more than 20 years of marketing communications experience in Hawaii's travel and hospitality industry, including positions with Hilton Resorts in Hawaii, Marriott International in Hawaii and Trump International Hotel Waikiki. She previously served as senior vice president of travel and tourism at Anthology Marketing Group and worked in the Office of Gov. Josh Green. Earlier in her career, she worked in broadcast news at stations in Hawaii, Guam and California.
“Bernie brings extensive experience in marketing communications and Hawaii's travel and hospitality industry to Pacific Historic Parks,” said Aileen Utterdyke, President and CEO of Pacific Historic Parks. “Her leadership helps strengthen how we share the history of the sites we support and connect with audiences in Hawaii and beyond.”
Caalim succeeds Jim McCoy. She holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley, and is originally from Honolulu.
