Upcoming talk examines wartime internment myths at Honouliuli
HONOLULU (August 19, 2025) – Pacific Historic Parks (PHP) continues its Hidden Histories: The Untold Stories of Honouliuli virtual speaker series this month with a new presentation. The free series, hosted in honor of the 10th anniversary commemoration of Honouliuli National Historic Site, highlights the people and stories that help preserve and interpret the site’s legacy.
Located in West Oahu, Honouliuli National Historic Site marks the location of Hawaii’s largest World War II prisoner of war camp. Designated in 2015 as a historic site, it tells the stories of wartime incarceration, martial law, and the prisoner of war experiences in the islands. Over the past decade, it’s become a powerful place of reflection and learning.
